At Westpost, a mixed-use work, shop and play center located just south of the Pentagon in Arlington, VA; C+RLA was tasked with creating a Masterplan that would re-enliven the planting and FF&E to meet the vision put forth by Federal Realty Investment Trust on their re-branding efforts for the site. Focused around the central plaza, C+RLA designed a series of custom furniture that would integrate planting with canopied, movable seating pods that would provide shade and help beautify the existing synthetic lawn within the plaza. Existing, predominantly shrub planting was overhauled with lush perennial gardens within the plaza and throughout the site with deliberate additions of new plant beds and vine pockets at the base of the existing storefronts. Existing planted containers were re-imagined and re-distributed throughout the site to accentuate updates to building facades or new site elements.

Planting was installed in Fall of 2022 with new plant beds, vines and furniture installed the following spring. The vines help to bring textural and colorful pops of planting along the storefronts while new furniture replaces the original tired pieces from the initial installation over a decade prior. C+RLA remains under contract with the owner to complete seasonal plant installations in the containers throughout the site. The custom planted, canopied furniture remains as an on-the-boards item for future consideration.
