THE STACKS

The Stacks is a bold new multi-use development located on Buzzard Point, designed to bring energy and identity to this growing waterfront neighborhood. As part of the larger design team, C+RLA was brought on to enhance the streetscape experience through thoughtful container planting design.

Our scope included the selection of over 200 containers from multiple vendors, ranging from reclaimed vintage troughs to hand built clay pieces from Belgium. Each vessel was paired with a curated perennial planting arrangement, contributing year-round texture, color, and rhythm to the pedestrian experience. These elements provide a strong visual connection to the site’s architecture, tying into the brickwork and enhancing the development’s overall sense of place.

The Stacks blends residential, coworking, retail, and dining into one cohesive and dynamic environment — a new model for urban living in the District.
